Primo is ExLibris (Clarivate) search engine discovery product, acting as an advanced “one search” system for academic libraries. It serves as a unified search engine over both physical and digital academic materials.
Primo queries the library's local catalog and special collections alongside billions of records supplied by global vendors. Serving over 2,000 clients, it provides essential resource management tools and crucial delivery calculations, such as availability and coverage.
Primo was created with accessibility embedded from the earliest planning and design stages, ensuring an inclusive, intuitive, and fully accessible experience for every user.
Challenge
The critical need for a unified, advanced "one search" system across all academic library resources, both physical and digital.
It simplifies the search experience for diverse user segments, including undergraduates, researchers, and library staff. This solution unifies the management and retrieval of local collections, archives, and varied library resources.

Noto Sans
Noto Sans was chosen for its high readability in digital interfaces and its full multilingual support, which ensures a consistent and seamless user experience.
It conveys professionalism, clarity, and a modern understated aesthetic that reinforces a sense of reliability and precision.
Colour

After the research we did, we have come to the conclusion that this color provides a strong presence that communicates innovation and stability, making it especially suitable for complex information systems that require trust and accuracy.
It creates a clear visual hierarchy and serves as a strong identity anchor that enhances branding and supports a cohesive user experience.
Icons
The icons align naturally with Primo’s visual language, maintaining a clean, modern, and consistent look that reinforces the sense of a polished interface and reduces cognitive load, and keeps the focus on the content

Filter Panel Optimization
In the old version, the filters list was always displayed beside the results, taking up significant screen space.
Problem
User research showed that many users prefer using the basic search, relying on only a few key filters.
